Halloween season might only just be getting into full swing, but UK theme parks are already preparing for Christmas.

Several of the country's biggest parks have now confirmed their festive events for 2026, with everything from Santa experiences and Christmas shows to selected rides, illuminations and even New Year's Eve fireworks.

Not every detail has been revealed yet, particularly when it comes to exactly which rides will operate, but there is already enough information to start planning a festive theme park visit.

Here is what has been announced for Christmas at UK theme parks so far.

Alton Towers - Christmas - from 27 November

Alton Towers will return with its Christmas event on selected dates between 27 November and 23 December 2026.

The main theme park usually operates very differently during the festive season, with the major thrill rides going into their winter hibernation while a selection of family attractions remains available.

Alton Towers has confirmed that its Christmas days will run from 10am until 4pm, although the complete 2026 ride and entertainment line-up has not yet been published.

The resort is also bringing back its post-Christmas Festive Breaks between 27 December and 2 January. These include a selection of family rides and attractions, CBeebies Land, seasonal entertainment, the Alton Towers Waterpark and Extraordinary Golf.

For anyone hoping for Nemesis Reborn, Wicker Man or the park's other headline coasters, Christmas at Alton Towers is very much a family-focused version of the park rather than a continuation of the main season.

LEGOLAND Windsor - selected dates from 21 November

LEGOLAND Windsor will transform into its Christmas version from 21 November 2026 through to 2 January 2027 on selected dates.

The resort is promising festive live shows, LEGO building activities, Christmas entertainment, a giant DUPLO Christmas tree and a selection of rides and attractions.

Tickets currently start from £34 per person.

One particularly unusual addition this year is Paws in the Park. On 29 November and 6, 13 and 20 December, guests will be able to bring their dogs into LEGOLAND with a £10 Pet Pass.

The winter ride line-up will be smaller than during the main season. Several attractions, including Minifigure Speedway, Fire and Ice Free Fall and Pirate Falls, are scheduled to close before the Christmas period and reopen during 2027.

That means it is worth checking the confirmed ride list before booking if particular attractions are important to your visit.

Chessington - Christmas Village returns from 21 November

Chessington World of Adventures will begin its Christmas season on selected dates from 21 November through to 24 December.

The centrepiece is the Christmas Village, where families follow a Christmas Village Passport through a series of festive experiences before meeting Father Christmas.

The route includes an Elf Welcome, Letters to Father Christmas, a Silent Disco, Father Christmas' Grotto and the Enchanted Hollow Toy Workshop, where children may receive an early Christmas present.

Elsewhere around the resort there will be a traditional Christmas panto, carollers and a limited selection of theme park rides, alongside access to Chessington Zoo and SEA LIFE.

Christmas Village and theme park tickets currently start from £32 per person, while guests who do not want the Father Christmas experience can purchase theme park-only entry from £24.

Chessington has not yet confirmed exactly which rides will operate during the Christmas season, with the final line-up expected later in the year.

Paultons Park - Christmas continues into January

Paultons Park will once again run its Celebration of Christmas on selected dates during December and through to 3 January 2027.

Peppa Pig World will receive its festive makeover, with Peppa and George appearing in their Christmas outfits, while the wider park will be decorated with seasonal illuminations.

Santa's Storytime will run until 24 December, while Frosty the Snowman will continue appearing through to 3 January.

Paultons has also confirmed a particularly strong ride offering for Christmas this year.

Valgard, the park's major new 2026 attraction, will remain open alongside Tornado Springs and the rides in Lost Kingdom.

That makes Paultons one of the more interesting options for visitors who want a proper selection of theme park rides alongside the traditional Christmas entertainment.

Festive food will also return, including the park's giant Yorkshire pudding wrap with turkey, stuffing, vegetables and pigs in blankets.

Drayton Manor - Magical Christmas from 28 November

Drayton Manor's Magical Christmas will take place on selected dates between 28 November and 24 December.

The Enchanted Christmas Grotto will return, allowing children to meet Father Christmas and receive a small gift, while the resort is also offering a dedicated SEND Christmas Grotto designed to provide a calmer experience.

Thomas Land rides will operate during the event alongside festive entertainment, Christmas shows and an Aladdin pantomime.

The festivities will not stop on Christmas Eve either.

Drayton Manor will then move into its Twixmas event from 27 to 31 December, featuring family rides, seasonal entertainment and a Magical End of Day Lake Show using a 30-metre water curtain, projections, fire, lighting and music.

On 31 December, the resort will finish the year with a New Year's Eve fireworks display over the lake at 5pm.

Pleasure Beach Resort - grotto, pantomime and festive entertainment

Blackpool Pleasure Beach Resort is also planning a substantial Christmas programme, although it is structured differently from the full festive theme park events offered elsewhere.

The resort's Christmas Grotto will operate from 21 November until 24 December.

Children will be guided through an interactive experience where they can decorate a bauble, collect reindeer food and a magic key before meeting Santa and receiving a present.

The ticket also includes a ride on Alice in Wonderland and a hot chocolate, with prices starting from £19.99 per child including two accompanying adults.

Elsewhere at the resort, Aladdin will run as the Christmas pantomime, alongside Christmas party nights and festive entertainment.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz on Ice will also return during December, giving Pleasure Beach a broader Christmas entertainment programme even though the main amusement park is not operating in the same way as during its regular season.

Which parks still have more to reveal?

Although most major Christmas dates are now available, several parks are still holding back some of the details.

Chessington has yet to confirm its complete festive ride line-up, while Alton Towers has not published the full attraction and entertainment programme for its Christmas days.

LEGOLAND has confirmed which attractions will close for winter, giving us a better idea of what will not be available, but further festive entertainment details could still be announced as November approaches.

Other smaller UK attractions are also likely to reveal their Christmas programmes over the coming weeks.

Is it too early to plan Christmas?

Perhaps surprisingly, probably not.

Several of the experiences involving Father Christmas use timed sessions or have limited capacity, while hotel packages and popular December weekends can sell well before the Halloween decorations have disappeared.

The biggest thing to remember is that a Christmas visit is rarely the same experience as visiting a theme park during the main season.

Many major roller coasters and water rides will be closed, operating hours are generally shorter and the focus shifts towards family attractions, entertainment, lighting and seasonal experiences.

We will update our Christmas coverage as more parks confirm their complete 2026 programmes, before taking a closer look at the best UK theme park Christmas events once the festive season gets underway.
