Thorpe Park has officially unveiled its brand-new “Launchpad” area today, introducing a fresh social and relaxation space designed to modernise one of the resort’s most iconic locations.

The new area replaces sections of the long-running Amity Beach zone, which had been part of the park for decades and became a nostalgic favourite for many returning guests. While the removal of the beach sparked mixed reactions when first announced, Launchpad signals a clear shift in how Thorpe Park wants visitors to experience the resort moving forward.

Rather than focusing on a seasonal water play area, Launchpad has been built as a year round destination where guests can stop, recharge and escape the intensity of the park’s headline attractions. The area features upgraded seating spaces, refreshed theming and new food and drink options, creating a more modern atmosphere aimed at families, groups and thrill seekers alike.

The opening also arrives during an important period for Thorpe Park. Following the huge impact of Hyperia’s launch and the continued popularity of attractions like Stealth, Saw the Ride and The Swarm, the resort has seen growing demand for additional spaces where visitors can relax between rides during busy operating days.

Although longtime fans may still miss the classic Amity Beach experience, Launchpad appears to be part of a broader evolution taking place across the resort, one that balances high-thrill attractions with more social, guest focused environments. Early reactions from guests visiting today have already praised the cleaner layout and more contemporary feel of the area.

Launchpad officially opened to the public today as part of Thorpe Park’s 2026 season, with crowds gathering to experience the resort’s newest addition for the first time.
