The headline deal for thrill-seekers is Merlin's Twice the Fun promotion.
Guests booking an eligible dated ticket by 27 July can receive a second theme park visit at no additional cost. The return visit can be used at Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures or LEGOLAND Windsor, including the option to return to the same park.
The second visit must take place by 25 September, making this particularly useful for families who want one day out during the school holidays and another after the busiest summer period has ended.
It is worth checking the terms before booking because only designated Twice the Fun tickets qualify. Standard tickets purchased through another promotion may not include the return visit.
Merlin's four major UK theme parks are also participating in the Great British Summer Savings scheme. Selected dated tickets are available from around £29.75, although prices vary by park, date and demand.

Drayton Manor is letting children visit free
Drayton Manor has launched one of the most family-friendly ticket offers of the summer.
Book by 27 July and one child under 1.2 metres can visit free with each full-paying adult. The tickets can be used for visits between 18 July and 1 September.
That could create a substantial saving for families with children who would otherwise require a standard ticket, particularly those planning to spend most of their day inside Thomas Land.
Drayton Manor is also offering reduced dated admission through the Great British Summer Savings scheme, with adult and child prices varying according to the selected date.
Visitors who would prefer flexibility can purchase a higher-priced undated ticket, but choosing a specific date in advance will generally offer better value.

Minecraft Meet the Mobs takes over Alton Towers
Minecraft Meet the Mobs is running at Alton Towers until 28 August and is included with standard theme park admission.
The event brings Minecraft-inspired encounters and activities into the resort, with guests able to meet characters including creepers, axolotls and baby pandas.
It gives families something to explore between rides and should be especially useful for groups containing both coaster fans and younger Minecraft players.
Alton Towers remains the strongest option for visitors who want to turn a theme park day into a longer resort break. Its accommodation, waterpark, Extraordinary Golf and evening entertainment provide enough to build a two or three-day itinerary without leaving the resort.
Day tickets are cheaper when purchased online, while a two-day theme park ticket can sometimes cost only slightly more than a single day. Compare the total price carefully before booking an overnight package, as separate admission and nearby accommodation may occasionally work out cheaper.

The LEGO Festival returns to LEGOLAND Windsor
The LEGO Festival runs from 20 July until 31 August, with activities spread across five play zones.
The programme includes hands-on brick-building activities, large LEGO models, live shows and appearances from LEGO characters. Music, creativity and quieter play areas mean the event is not built around a single stage or performance.
That makes it easier to fit into an ordinary park day without sacrificing too much ride time.
LEGOLAND Windsor is one of the safest choices for families with primary-school-aged children. Most of the park is designed around shared family experiences rather than splitting groups between thrill rides and children's attractions.
Tickets currently start from around £32 when booked online, while children under 90 centimetres can enter free. Short-break packages are also available, with selected stays including a second day in the theme park.
Do not assume that two days are automatically necessary. A focused one-day visit can cover plenty, but two days may be worthwhile during busy summer dates when queues for attractions such as Flight of the Sky Lion and Minifigure Speedway are likely to build quickly.

Chessington adds Animal Crossing and PAW Patrol
Chessington World of Adventures is leaning into character experiences during August.
From 1 to 31 August, visitors can take part in an Animal Crossing: New Horizons activity, collecting character stamps, learning about SEA LIFE creatures and meeting Tom Nook and Isabelle.
Chase, Skye and Rubble from PAW Patrol will also be appearing for photographs and character encounters.
These activities join the park's existing mix of rides, zoo exhibits and SEA LIFE Aquarium, all of which are included with standard admission.
Chessington works particularly well for mixed-age families. Older children have Mandrill Mayhem, Vampire and Dragon's Fury, while younger guests can explore family attractions and animal areas without feeling as though they are simply waiting for everybody else.

Flamingo Fest brings late summer evenings to Yorkshire
Flamingo Land is adding a festival atmosphere to selected dates with the new Flamingo Fest.
Entry is included with standard day tickets, annual passes and Holiday Village passes. The event includes live entertainment, face painting, street food, drinks and appearances from the resort's entertainment team.
A special £15 ticket is also available from 3pm, providing afternoon and evening access to the theme park, zoo and Flamingo Fest entertainment.
That makes it one of the more interesting alternatives to a conventional full-price theme park day, particularly for local visitors who are happy to arrive later and focus on the evening atmosphere.
Flamingo Land's standard admission becomes progressively more expensive as the visit date approaches, so booking more than seven days ahead generally provides the best price. Family tickets covering up to four people are also available.
The combination of a theme park, zoo, live shows and holiday resort gives Flamingo Land plenty of variety, although visitors primarily interested in rollercoasters should check ride availability before travelling.

Pleasure Beach offers rides and summer stage shows
Pleasure Beach Resort remains one of the easiest UK parks to combine with a wider summer break.
Advance all-you-can-ride tickets start from around £30, with guests saving £5 per person when booking at least seven days ahead. The exact price varies by date, so leaving the booking until the last minute can make a family visit noticeably more expensive.
The summer entertainment programme includes Hot Ice XC, celebrating 90 years of ice shows at Pleasure Beach Arena, alongside Alice Frozen in a Wonderland of Dreams and The Evolution of Magic.
Show tickets are sold separately from standard ride admission, although this creates the option of combining a day inside the park with an evening performance.
Pleasure Beach is best suited to visitors who appreciate a traditional amusement park atmosphere. Its collection mixes modern rides with historic attractions, including the Grand National, Big Dipper and the UK's only surviving first-generation wooden Wild Mouse.
Guests staying in Blackpool should compare hotel packages against standalone admission, but do not overlook the cost of parking and additional entertainment when calculating the total price.

Paultons Park remains one of the best all-round choices
Paultons Park may not have a headline summer festival on the scale of LEGOLAND or Alton Towers, but it remains one of the UK's strongest family theme parks.
The park offers more than 70 rides and attractions, including Peppa Pig World, Tornado Springs, Lost Kingdom and two water splash areas. Parking is free and children under one metre can enter without a ticket.
Paultons has applied the Great British Summer Savings reduction to visits between 25 June and 1 September. Selected dates have been advertised from £15, although peak school holiday tickets will usually cost more.
Booking online in advance can save more than 20 per cent compared with purchasing admission on the day.
The park is a particularly good choice for families whose children are moving beyond preschool attractions but are not yet ready for the UK's largest rollercoasters. Tornado Springs and Lost Kingdom provide a useful bridge between Peppa Pig World and the park's bigger family rides.
Official short breaks can include a second park day, but one full day should be enough for many families when the park is moderately busy.

Don't overlook Gulliver's Theme Parks
If your children are under 13, Gulliver's Theme Parks are well worth considering this summer.
With parks in Milton Keynes, Warrington, Rotherham and Matlock Bath, Gulliver's is designed specifically for younger families, meaning far more attractions are accessible without worrying about extreme height restrictions.
Summer ticket prices start from around £15–£16 when booked online in advance, while family tickets and short break packages can offer even better value. Families planning multiple visits should also consider the £99 Annual Passport, which includes entry to every Gulliver's park for 12 months.
It's one of the most affordable ways to enjoy several theme park days over the school holidays, particularly if you have younger children.

Which UK theme park should you choose?
There is no single park that will suit every family, so the best choice depends on the ages and interests of your group.
Thorpe Park is the clearest choice for teenagers and adults who want the highest concentration of major rollercoasters. Hyperia, Stealth and SAW - The Ride can fill a thrill-focused day without the additional family and animal attractions found elsewhere.
Alton Towers offers the broadest complete resort experience. It has world-class rollercoasters, CBeebies Land, accommodation and additional activities, but its large and hilly layout makes advance planning especially important.
Paultons Park is our strongest all-round recommendation for families with younger and primary-school-aged children. It is well maintained, easy to navigate and contains enough variety to work for siblings of different ages.
LEGOLAND Windsor is the natural choice for dedicated LEGO fans, particularly while the LEGO Festival is running. It can, however, become extremely busy during the school holidays.
Chessington offers the best balance of rides and animals in southern England, while Flamingo Land provides a similar combination for visitors in Yorkshire and the North East.
Drayton Manor should be near the top of the list for Thomas fans, especially while its Kids Go Free promotion is available.
Seven ways to spend less this summer
Book dated tickets rather than paying at the entrance. Walk-up prices at several major parks can be almost twice the cheapest online rate.
Check every promotion before selecting a standard ticket. A Twice the Fun, Kids Go Free or free second-day package may provide more value than the first ticket shown on a booking page.
Compare one and two-day admission. At some parks, a second day costs only a small amount more. That does not automatically make it worthwhile, but it can reduce the pressure to purchase queue-skipping products.
Take advantage of free child admission. Height-based free entry varies between parks. Check children wearing their normal shoes before booking, as a difference of only a few centimetres can change the total cost.
Bring refillable water bottles. Hydration stations and free tap water can reduce the cost of repeatedly buying drinks throughout a hot day.
Pre-book parking where a discount is available. Some parks charge more at the exit or on the day, while Paultons Park includes parking with admission.
Price annual passes before booking several visits. A pass can become worthwhile after only a few trips, especially when it includes parking or food and retail discounts. Do the calculation using the visits you genuinely expect to make rather than the theoretical maximum value.
Plan around summer crowds
The school holidays are among the busiest dates of the entire season, but a few simple decisions can have a major effect on the day.
Arrive at least 30 minutes before the advertised opening time. This gives you time to clear security and reach the entrance before the first queues build.
Do not automatically begin with the attraction closest to the entrance. Check the park map in advance and consider walking directly to a priority ride deeper inside the park.
Use official apps to monitor queues, show schedules and ride closures. Screenshots of tickets and booking confirmations are also useful in areas with weak mobile reception.
Lunch queues are normally busiest between midday and 2pm. Eating earlier or later can save time and may let you experience popular rides while other guests are inside restaurants.
Weather forecasts also deserve attention. Hot days may increase demand for water rides, while heavy rain can temporarily close exposed attractions. Pack for both rather than relying on an expensive emergency poncho or bottle of sun cream inside the park.
