Efteling has confirmed that its completely renewed Raveleijn themed area will reopen on 1 December 2026, bringing a new attraction, an entirely new park show and a major overhaul of the area.

The Dutch theme park is investing €20 million in the transformation, with visitors set to discover the new Ravenring attraction alongside Raveleijn: Battle for the City when the gates reopen this winter.

Efteling has also revealed four new concept images offering the clearest look yet at how the transformed area will appear.

Raveleijn reopens on 1 December

Raveleijn has been closed for almost a year while Efteling carries out one of the area's biggest transformations since it originally opened.

The renewed themed area will officially welcome guests from 1 December 2026.

Alongside the new attraction and show, the redevelopment includes refreshed food and beverage facilities and a completely new souvenir shop.

Efteling says details of how it plans to celebrate the reopening will be announced at a later date.

New attraction Ravenring joins Efteling

The biggest new addition is Ravenring, a completely new attraction developed by Dutch ride manufacturer Vekoma.

Located in an encampment just outside the walls of Raveleijn, the attraction places guests inside winged vehicles inspired by the ravens associated with the area's story.

Ravenring features 18 vehicles carrying two riders each, allowing up to 36 guests to experience each cycle.

Rather than simply sitting through the experience, riders can use a lever to influence how steeply their individual vehicle tilts as the attraction rotates.

Efteling describes the ride as a whirling flight ritual designed to test guests' courage and determine which of Raveleijn's five magical elements suits them best.

The attraction represents a €5 million part of the overall Raveleijn investment.

A completely new Raveleijn show

The famous Raveleijn arena is also getting an entirely new production called Raveleijn: Battle for the City.

Efteling has developed the show in collaboration with French theme park Puy du Fou, known internationally for its large-scale live productions and stunt spectaculars.

The new story takes place ten years after the defeat of dragon Draconicon and villain Olaf Grafhart.

Peace has returned to Raveleijn, but during the wedding of Thomas and Samira a mysterious dark force awakens, once again forcing the city's heroes into battle.

Efteling says the production will feature spectacular new stunts within a heavily renovated version of the existing arena.

Of the €20 million being invested across Raveleijn, €10 million is being spent on the new show alone.

The whole Raveleijn area is changing

The transformation stretches considerably further than the arena itself.

Efteling is investing another €5 million into renovating the wider themed area, with updated buildings, facilities and storytelling designed to make Raveleijn feel more like a complete living city.

The area's restaurant, De Verslaeghen Draek Inn, will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the day.

Its revamped menu is themed around recipes and ingredients supposedly brought back to Raveleijn by travellers from around the world.

Visitors will even be able to order a slice of Thomas and Samira's wedding cake, tying the dining experience directly into the story of the new show.

A new Raveleijn shop is also opening

A completely new souvenir shop called In den Ravenkorf will also form part of the area.

The shop will sell Raveleijn costumes, toys, decorations, stationery and other themed merchandise.

At its centre will be a large raven's nest, with additional ravens hidden throughout the wooden beams and surrounding theming.

Guests will also be able to have their photo taken with the heroes of Raveleijn inside the new location.

€20 million transformation

Efteling has now confirmed exactly how the project's €20 million budget is being divided.

€10 million is being invested in the new Raveleijn show, €5 million in renovating the wider themed area and another €5 million in developing Ravenring.

The result should be much more than simply a refreshed version of the existing show.

By combining the arena with a permanent ride, expanded dining, retail and additional storytelling, Efteling is turning Raveleijn into a more complete themed destination within the park.

When does the new Raveleijn open?

The renewed Raveleijn themed area will officially open at Efteling on 1 December 2026.

From that date, guests will be able to experience Ravenring, watch Raveleijn: Battle for the City and explore the redesigned dining, retail and themed spaces.

With a new Vekoma attraction and a show developed alongside Puy du Fou, this is shaping up to be one of Efteling's most interesting additions of 2026.
